Presentation

The Grande Armée Column team invites you to (re)discover this historic site during a guided tour every Friday at 11am.

On thefourth Friday, a specific theme will be explored:

  • The history of the construction of the column
  • The monument park, its history and biodiversity
  • Naval aspects of the Boulogne camp

Just a stone's throw from the Boulogne camp, where the ceremony to award more than 2,000 crosses of the Legion of Honour took place on 16 August 1804, the site of the Grande Armée column commemorates that day and the incorporation of the Legion of Honour into national symbolism.
