An exceptional panorama

Visible for miles around, the silhouette of the Grande Armée column, some fifty metres high, dominates the landscape of the Côte d'Opale. Visitors climbing the 263 steps of the interior staircase are treated to an exceptional panorama!

Once past the bronze door in the column's pedestal, you will have to climb the narrow spiral staircase concealed in its shaft, but what a reward at the top! From the platform, you can enjoy a 360° view of the entire panorama: to the east, the monumental avenue in the axis of the column's park; to the north, the seaside resort of Wimereux and its seafront; to the south, the town of Boulogne-sur-Mer and the dome of its basilica; and to the west, weather permitting, the English coastline, the object of imperial ambitions...
